PostSubject: Clarent, the King Slayer   Mon Sep 09, 2013 7:08 pm

Name: Clarent the Kingslayer

Type: Weapon

Description:
The blade is about two and a half feet long; the handle is about six inches.

Abilities: Kingslayer: Clarent has been reforged and its already impressive dark abilities increased. The sword can cleave through practically anything in a single strike. In regards to other forged items, while Clarent does not immediately cut through them it is capable of dealing more damage to them.

Summoned: An intangible chain binds the sword to Alexander. Usually transparent the chain manifests itself when Alexander wills for Clarent to come to him. The chain is attached to the bottom of the sword's hilt. Using the chain, Alexander has made it difficult to be entirely disarmed. The chain can not be use in combat due to its constant intangibility.

Corruption (Plot Only): Weaker souls are bent to Clarent's will if they attempt to wield it. Stronger souls feel the pull of the dark sword but resist it. The effects can linger after the sword is dropped for an indeterminate amount of time based on the individual in question.

History: At the beginning of the Demonic invasion, Blueman stole some of their magical artifacts and arcane technology. These, in combination with his vast resources allowed him to locate the broken remains of the dark sword Clarent.

In its past, Clarent was the brother sword to Excalibur. Used for special knighting ceremonies the blade was known to cut the shoulders of those its blade fell upon, its edge sharp and pure. A mad medicine man stole the weapon and used it to murder a Holy Knight named Arthur who had become the king of his people. Being soaked in Arthur's blood turned Clarent into a corrupted version of its former self. Eventually, it was found and destroyed.

Alexander recovered the weapon. Using the Amaranth tech and artifacts he'd reclaimed alongisde his knowledge of the lost forging process of Damascus steel, he reforged it into its current form and enhanced its defining feature.

This is fine as long as it is only on nonforged items. The only reason for this is the rule of absolutes which isn't allowed on this site. It can be very effective against cutting forged items and will likely break them more easily than other weapons would destroy each other but this is preemptive paradox prevention.

Keep in mind that your stat does make this more effective to wield it than someone who didn't have a high forge stat, as well as being more effective against weapons with those who have a low forge stat.

The unbreakable thing is feasible as long as it's just unbreakable due to its intangibility. You could even make it so that when you do bring it out that you're the only one able to touch it so that people can break the chain and whatnot. This also just follows the laws of absolute I'm trying to apply.

And what about the chain? Intangible to others even when you use it to retrieve the weapon?

If you wish you could simply make the weapon summonable if that peaks your fancy.

Well, I see it as a summon mechanic that works in an interesting fashion. For instance, it is not visible or touchable by normal means. I could not use it to strangle a person, but if it hits the end of its range it would appear that the weapon is dangling in mid-air. People with certain abilities may be able to see it and creatively deal with it.

I suppose the chain is more of symbol of a contract made. Clarent and Alexander have been bound, represented by a ghostly Damascus chain. Is there a possible way we could reconcile this without moving it too far from the original intent? if not, then a mere summoning is not too far from the question. The chain itself may possibly be a forged item as well.

So, it'd be able to be touched when you summon it for things such as strangling? If so, then the unbreakable would have to be made to durable to the same degree that the blade can cut anything. Granted, you'd probably just make it disappear if it was becoming too large of an issue.

The chain itself if inherently different in use and abilities would have to be its own slot. However, if we can work out it being in solely conjunction with the sword as a creative form of summoning then it need not be. We'll see if we can find a good middle ground for both the needs of you as a user and the site in regards to rules.

Well, I don't intend for the chain to be used as a weapon in combat. Its not tangible (or visible without proper abilities) and its only practical function is easier recover of the weapon if its knocked out of his hand. For instance, if it was knocked out of his hand it couldn't actually go very far out of reach. If a person did try to take it from him, they'd probably need to tear his arm off.

Oh, if it's not for combative use and can't be used by anyone but Blue then that's fine. Please edit in the proper details.
